Hello to all who are new here. We’ve decided to do an Open Writer’s Challenge here on the blog for 2022.
What is an Open Writer’s Challenge? It’s whatever you want it to be.
That’s right. Whatever your writing goal is, that’s your challenge.
Do you want to publish a book a month? Do you want to write a short story a day for 365 days straight? Do you have a full time job and want to just write one short story a week? Do you just want to maintain a writing streak of 1000 words a day? Whatever your goal is for 2022, share it here in the comments and then post along during the year to let us know how you are doing.
Everyone participating will not only have their own personal challenge, but we can all be cheerleaders for one another.
Share your writing/publishing goals in the comments, and then join us all in cheering one another on as we write our way through 2022!
Questions? Ask in the comments.
Rules: 1) Whatever your personal goal for writing/publishing is fine.
2) Cheer one another on.
3) Don’t be mean or rude.
This will be for positivity only. If you are struggling with your goal, that’s fine to post so that others can cheer you on. But let’s keep responses as upbeat, positive and encouraging as possible.
Failures and set backs will happen. Health issues, life rolls, etc happen. Goals can be adjusted.
Let’s just make this a community where writers can cheer one another on so that we can all have the best 2022 writing year that we all can!
Let’s write through 2022!
The Dreaming Place by Charles de Lint. Yeah, this guy is very quickly becoming one of my favorite all-time authors. I just love the books of his I have read and The Dreaming Place was awesome. It’s a short book (130 pages, give or take.) But worth every page.
The Pulp Jungle by Frank Gruber. In my study of the pulp writers, I finally got my hands on this book. Definitely worth reading for people who want to become writers. We have it so much easier now with computers and email.
That’s it for December. It was a super busy month, so I didn’t get a lot of reading done. I read a bunch of short stories from WMG’s Holiday Spectacular, but it’s not an actual book I can post. They are stories from a Kickstarter that are being emailed to me individually. Some really good stuff in there though. They will have a book of these stories though. Click here for the link to the WMG Holiday Spectacular. There is more info there if you’re interested.
I have a dentist appointment today. Such fun. She’s got to check to make sure I’m okay to take one of the meds my doc wants to put me on. I hate going to the dentist. But I gotta do what I gotta do, right?
I couldn’t wait. I was so close. I just had to finish. I spent all morning yesterday writing. I was already a little bit ahead, so I finished it out. 100 stories in 100 days! (Actually 100 stories in 96 days!)
This now clears the path so I can get on to my next project of finishing all of my series. I don’t want to leave anything hanging. I have a lot of books to write, and they will not finish as quickly as a short story.
So off we go into 2022 with a new goal to conquer and old worlds to visit! Happy New Year!
